Last night as we were coming home from Eli's school Expedition night Tim and I laughed as we saw a woman trying to cross the street with her dog and child. It had firmly planted it's paws half way across the street and was not moving. A car was waiting to turn onto the street.
She kept pulling, looking at the child, and the car and finally picked it up and ran the rest of the way.
We laughed. Eli asked why. Tim said, Eli did you see that woman dragging the dog?
Immediately Curran our four year old neighbor who was with us said, what does the barking the duck mean?
What did you say?
Barking the duck?
Curran, Tim meant, dragging the dog. To which all he replied was, Oh, ok. I didn't see it.
We smiled and proceeded home with our new fish and snails which they were giving away from Eli's classroom since it's almost the end of the school year.
Yes I'm a glutton for punishment when it comes to additional living things - we now have two hermit crabs who have amazing lived for 2.5 year and grown two shell sizes, a dog, and now three fish and two snails who are suppose to keep the tank clean. Right I'll believe that when I see it and hope to be surprised.
Eli's teacher told her she's had her cloud fish for four years. Based upon our previous fish experience I'm betting on months, but you never know.
Eli was proud and excited to put the tank in his room because he's never been able to keep any of the pets in there.
