Earlier this week I came upstairs from my office in route to a board meeting to discover Eli individually creating muffins in the muffin tin. As I came around the corner he was holding a 5 lb bag of flour and pouring it into each tin that contained green or blue colored water and a variety of floating sprinkles.
After the initial shock I asked him what he was doing and he plainly answered, "I making a yummy muffin concoction." Yep I'd say that absolutely described it.
As he was speaking I was also scanning to look for the babysitter who was on the phone on the couch in the other room. He immediately said, "we'll be sure to clean it all up and I've got to finish this call and I'll be right off." That's nice - my six year old is making colored muffin concoctions and the babysitter who is usually always right there was hanging out.
I asked Eli why he was using the sprinkles and he said cause it's sugar and you've got to make them sweet. Great - $22 per pound sugar in 2 oz jars. I went and got the sugar as well as some measuring spoons and cups.
I showed him how to measure flour and real sugar as well as we added some baking powder (the container is still missing). I then put the oven on and asked the babysitter to clean up and to be sure to turn the oven off.
When I came home that night the concoction was sitting on the counter. If it wasn't for all of the loose flour around the greenish muffins they would have almost looked edible.
I then found my camera and went to take a picture because it really was priceless - but to my surprise my camera would turn on but not come into focus. It was broken. After playing a round for a few more minutes I realized that it truly was a goner.
I know there is a local camera shop that sells both "antique" film cameras as well as digital ones - and I figured I better download the current photos just in case.
As the photos downloaded I laughed, two pictures were mine and over 40 were ones that I didn't even know existed.
There was a picture of me with a friend cooking and drinking wine, pictures of our rug, the tv, of miscellaneous stuffies with and without clothes, pictures of the birthday Webkins and an extra picture of the the logo on their foot, pictures of a sea play mobile Eli got from his birthday, a picture of a a family picture on the refrigerator, a picture of a penny he found, pictures of bakuguan, and many self portraits of course one was of his penis because it is true the love affair starts early. The last 4 pictures were the same blurry look that I get when I turn my camera on.
Perhaps it was dropped during one of the photo shoots or perhaps the auto focus simply died, but the mystery is solved - Eli did it.
